Study Reveals: Everyone Thinks that they are Middle Class

Quoted

Everyone thinks they're middle class. This isn't a big surprise: the word "rich" has specific connotations (servants, mansions on the Gold Coast, 200-foot yachts, etc.) and even someone making $200-300 thousand a year probably doesn't have any of that stuff. What's more, most people in that income range were likely raised middle class, so culturally they still think of themselves that way even if their incomes give them a pretty comfortable lifestyle.

Well, do you think this is also applicable in the Western world or is it this way only in Buenos Aires? My guess would be that it's pretty much the same also in Europe... it would be a straight forward explanation why in Switzerland the last vote (concerning fair tax collection) was overruled. It's simply because everyone thinks that they are middle class... my explanation at the time was that 58% of the Swiss people are "belonging" to the rich. :P (Why would someone vote against fair taxation for the rich when you are not rich?)

I guess that's the case here too. But then it makes me wonder: what would royals think they are? :P

Middle Class

hey guys, maybe most of us begins from middle class and it has become like a way of life, as the time goes by people feel as it is even they're making a whole lot of money. However this is not applicable to everyone as I have met some people who are very status conscious and being on the higher level of social class is somewhat to be proud of, I often smell vanity. The royals, I think they're just lucky in this lifetime and I have nothing against them, but some of my friends said that they are not doing anything but live on people's money, which I don't really agree as most of them are educated and have a job.

@Zatimi: I agree with you on the part of the royals. They indeed have jobs etc. :) But then I still wonder: makes that feel them middle class, or do they keep on feeling 'elitist'?
