Zoo

Are our zoos cruel to wild animals? Do you go regularly? Well, what's your general opinion about it?

I dunt like to go to zoo in our country. i feel those animals are treated cruelly by keeping them in the cages. I wish animals could live freely in their own field. :P

Not all zoos are too bad. In some cases, if they have animals that were bred/born in captivity, than it's ok to have those, but if they take wild species with no clear reason, but just to display them, that's a different story.
The Dutch zoos often participate in an animal protection programme to help endangered species and sometimes get them into the wild again if they are fully grown and could form a herd. In general the animal 'houses'/areas are quite well maintained.

In general I like zoos, especially to see some rare or just cute/funny animals. When I was a kid I could just spend a lot of time at the wolves, sharks/aquariums and the meerkats :P Sometimes abroad, when I have enough time, I try to visit a zoo :P. I visited one in Antwerp, Berlin, the Czech Republic, New York and some other places :P
