What about CD's?

Where do you get your music from?

I buy CD's online (1)

I buy CD's in a 'real' shop (2)

I copy CD's (when someone lends them to me)

I was wondering if you still buy CD's? Or do you download songs, legally or illegally... buy songs online. I still buy CD's though.. but only if I think a certain band is worth listening to for quite a while. So I really have to be certain that I like all their stuff before I buy their CD.

I want to check multiple options, but the poll doesn't allow :P

I have a part of my music downloaded. Especially from bands where I actually only like 1 or 2 songs or so, or cds that are not available anymore in shops.
As you said, I buy a cd if I plan to listen to it frequently and I have to like the majority of the songs. Though, in some cases I bought a cd. only liking a few songs, but after a while and more listening I grew to like the other songs too :P

When I buy cd's I try to do it in a regular shop and if they don't sell them there, I buy them via internet. Also depends on the price of course xD

I haven't done CD copying anymore since....uhm... 5 years ago I think? Though I still sometimes 'make' CDs by ripping some CDs and put songs of several CDs on 1 disk for in the car :P

The CDs I'm most proud of are my Phil Collins albums (got all 7 official albums, and ...Hits (a compilation), and.... a the single of I wish it would rain down, which also feautures 2 songs not released on other CDs; the demo version of Another day in paradise and You've been in love (that little bit too long) )

I usually download the songs because it simply is so much more convenient... you don't even have to go to the shop. So you save a lot of time and even money, because it's cheaper. The only disadvantage is that you cannot collect all the CDs like earlier... this doesn't matter to me really, though. I have barely enough space for all my books. :)

I can't imagine to read a book with about 1600 pages in front of my computer and these are the books I like most (like Lord of the Rings, books by James Clovell). So usually they are a bit longer and I don't plan to spend ages just reading in front of the pc. It would be different if I have an e-reader, though I'm not planning to buy one.

What about you?

well.. I don;t like reading stuff in front of my pc either. I usually have to read articles for uni (pdf-files 50> pages). And since I don't have an e-reader I print them.. so maybe it would save me costs if I'd buy an e-reader and stop killing trees because I don't like reading off of my screen.

If I want to pay for some track, I also want to have it as a material object, otherwise I think it is sort f useless to have bought it :P. Unless it is just one single song that you can't find anywhere else.
Go a cd for my birthday, so I indirectly supported the Music business again :P

About the e-books; Isn't that supposed to be chattered in another thread, in the literature subforum? :whistling: You as admin and mod should know that, haha :P

Anyway, to reply offtopic; I now have a case in which an e-reader+e-book could be more convenient; my new book has about 1100 pages and weighs about 1,5 kg, so it's not to easy to handle. In this case an e-reader would be prefered :P
