Music vs. Lyrics

What is in your opinion most important of a song; the music or the lyrics, or is it equally important?
Enlighten us with your view on this topic ^^

To create a really good song both has to fit together. If we're just talking in general, I'd say lyrics are much more important even though this means I don't really like most of the new songs now. ;) They're just so stupid and pale regarding the lyrics - at least most of them.

It depends on capability of feeling?
I feel more well on text, so I feel a litte more various things on lyric. :P

But in case of vocaloid, it shows melody(and arrangement) is equal to lyric.
in autotune? Of course, both are meaningless. lol

hm... for me comes the music first. If I don't like the music, I won't listen to the lyrics. But when I like the music then I'm going to listen to the lyrics.

I myself would say lyrics are slightly more important. The music can be very catchy or whatever, but when the lyrics simply suck, I don''t like the song too much :P
And it could be quite important to know what they are singing, as then you could avoid some misconceptions. For example when people say a certain song is romantic, because of the tune and a part of the lyrics, but when you read the complete lyrics, you notice that it is about divorce or so. So in those cases, to avoid misconceptions, the lyrics are important :P

Though a nice melody is appreciated sometime, especially the right combo of good lyrics and nice music.
