Japan: Penguin as Pet

Quoted

This video from RealTV features a Japanese family who own a 10 year old King Penguin named Lala. Lala is so smart that she has even been trained to walk to the fish market with her little backpack to get fresh fish everyday. And when she returns home, there is a room with a television and a/c waiting for her. This penguin pretty much has the life.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

What's that? Haha.. no idea what you are talking about.

Quite interesting movie, isn't it? So do you think it's a poor penguin or not?

Neon Genesis Evangelion is a famous series in Japan. It's an animation (or anime) and one of the protagonists has a Penguin named PenPen who lives in the refrigerator.

Well, people have like everything as a pet... so why not a penguin? He doesn't look unhappy. If poeple now how to act with they're pets it seems ok to me (not like those families having a monkey as a pet and they don't know what to do with him...)

It seems to me a penguin is hard to keep, but in Japan they probably don't see that of much of a problem :P

Snow owls were also hyped once, after some HP movies, but owls are also not too good as pet xD

I can't remember if I ever wanted a weird animal as pet... The most exotic I ever wanted was some sort of little squirrel or so :P

We had two cute dwarf rabbits in my childhood - so we were pretty glad about these two... they were quite tame and therefore you could pet them. So we even didn't want to keep a penguin - but it's less extraordinary, indeed! I wouldn't want to have an animal which is originally from another latitude - I just think that it could be too stressful for the animal even if you're looking really good for it.

Haha... I'd have loved the thought of a squirrel as a pet in my childhood, I guess. ;)

I'll look out for a pink elephant for Arianne then.

We had... rabbits, cats, fish, guinea pigs and 'stick insects' (the Dutch literal translation to English would be 'Walking stick' xD).
Nowadays we only have our weird cat Didi.

Never had much with birds :P. I was more fond of mammals, especially the smaller ones, but I don't think I want a hamster or so any more :P
