Women's Weekly

Just a few days ago I was really bored and then I decided to have a look in one of these magazines for women, called ‘famous’. In short: I couldn’t read a single story without thinking very negative about the author – who’s interested in cheating claims of the stars in Hollywood? They are not even living on the same continent and we’ve just seen them a few times on TV but never in person. So I was still looking through the magazine when I realized that nothing in here can give me any information I would be interested in.

So please explain to me why it can be interesting to buy and read magazines like this? I didn’t get it at all. Don’t take it wrong, I just borrowed it from a friend, it’s not my magazine (I’d like to read National Geographic or something like that… hehe). I’m just wondering and looking forward to get a new perspective of it.

Perhaps it's in the 'nature' or group behaviour of certain women to like to know what's happening in showbizz-land, and act like you know everything about the people there. Or they read it to have something to discuss or simple disapprove when you don't have anything else to mention? :P
I'm not quite into the gossip stuff, so I leave those magazines. The one my mom reads is already bad enough :P, well that one is not filled with Hollywood gossips etc, but is simply stuffed with articles women should find attractive to read. When you have absolutely nothing to do, it's a way to kill time a bit :P

In short I blame it on group behaviour/ the nature of certain groups of women to want to know every gossip.

Anyway, magazines like that are also not my cup of tea ;). I don't really fit in the target group of those magazines :P. I'd rather read a magazine with less that three-quarters of advs for fashion and make-up :P and with some 'real' contents, indeed something like NG magazine, (popular) scientific, travel mags or computer/photographing stuff ;)
