Today I was another time totally annoyed how the people from Netherlands are driving in our mountains... so why do Dutchmen drive 30% slower than the rest on the streets here? Do you have such problems in Holland as well? I hope not for Nike & Arianne. :) So I'm just wondering - are you simply scared of mountains and rocks?

(It might be a prejudice but in about 90% of the cases so far it's true: if there's a convoy, there'll be a car with a 'NL' on the plate leading it...). :S

How comes that? Please tell me. haha

@Silvio: we don't have mountains here... so we drive differently around here. Most Swiss people really don't drive full-speed here either. It's a strange area..so then you simply drive slower (my experience), roads which are normal for you are strange to us. It's not like we're scared of mountains and rocks.. we just don't like to be pushed over the edge by over-enthusiastic Swiss drivers :D (don't take it personally). But our highest mountain is about 350 meters max.

You should try Dutch cities... :D And yes.. that's an invitation :D

I wouldn't drive full speed in Netherlands either, you are right about this. That's no excuse to drive 50 instead of 80 in our mountains! :P And they need about 60% of the whole street... terrible to overtake. I might exagerate now, though. Sometimes I'm just a bit annoyed when there are great curves and I have to drive behind a slow Dutchmen... sorry. ;)

Okay, I'll visit some Dutch cities as soon as I have time.

Good one... I might have to think about this statement the next time I get in such a situation... haha.

Thanks :D well.. I'm driving to Austria next year (as it seems) so then I get a chance to practice my highly underdeveloped mountain-driving-skills. So please then don't start driving behind me, point at your forehead, insult me.. or start hooting like a freak.. or I'll drive the car down a cliff! (That's in a nutshell how Dutch people feel...) :D

Looking forward to meet you though :D

In Dutch cities we have nice routes that change all the time, because they seem to like to work on the roads, haha. Even when you have a navigator it can be hard to find the right way. For the Badminton it took us once about an hour to get to the place where we had to play, even though we had already reached the city, but there were works on several places throughout the city and the Navigator didn't seem to get that, so it was sending us in circles all over again xD. So good luck :P.
You can better take a train/bus/tram when you're going to a city :P.
And going to a village on a countryside can be tricky too. Enough choice :P

And I have to say that I'd also not fully trust mountain roads, especially when there are multiple turns in it :P, but it could be nice to the other traffic to at least try to keep up with the speed :P

Sounds good!
A date in Utrecht? :O You're going to date around the country? :P Have fun anyway ;)

Today I went to a friend for his birthday, together with another friend :P. It's wasn't a real birthday party, but more hang aound together this afternoon. He also bought me a birthday present, because he's on holiday when I have my birthday, so that was a nice surprise :P.

And tonight I have a party from another friend, who graduated from her study and because she had her birthday last week.

Went to a party yesterday, which was fun. Garden parties usually are  Today I'm just hanging around the house since it's too hot to actively do something anyway. After dinner me and mum will go to the harbor, the city centre and the IJsselmeer to take some pictures (I promised to update my flickr-page.. but I need pictures to be able to do so  ). So it's a nice cooling down at the lake, a bicycle ride and photo shoot in one! :D

Haha.. well I met him on the net a few weeks ago and he has been pushing me to date him for over 4 weeks. I turned him down every time because I was so caught up in my exams. Last week we had a date in Amsterdam and Hoorn.. so now it's my turn to go to where he's at. So it'll be Utrecht. He's the one who asked me on a second date.. so I'm curious where he'll take me  ( :P )

We were being active today, mwhaha xD. Cycling 54 km with 30-33 degrees :P Not extremely recommendable, but it's manageable.
Made some nice touristy pics near Kinderdijk, the place with the Mills :P. A lot of tourists over there of course xD

For the rest of the day... probably hanging around inside the house or in the shade, finishing The Odyssey and after that start in some other book or so :D

@ Silvio: I wanted too.. just returned... but there was a festival in town (completely forgot about that) and now I do not have the pics I wanted. So I guess I'll try another time again. I have a few though which are reasonable.. and a few pics illustrating our famous orange outfits and boobytraps concerning the World Cup. I'm uploading them right now actually :-)

I started working at 9 o'clock and finished at 3... I'm quite disappointed that I can't make more hours, but therefore I can enjoy a little bit free time - so what is more valuable to me right now? Hard to say...

I'm also already looking forward to go to France with my father and a motorbike group - that should be quite amazing even though I'll be the youngest there... it's always the same. But who cares? At least I'll talk about topics which are a bit more profound than open-airs and going out at weekends.

Today we have this big soccer game Netherlands against Uruguay and I hope that's going to be very interesting to watch.

By the way, lovely shot Arianne.

For some reasons.... train takes twice as long at night, which is not too funny xD. Had the train of around midnight from Rotterdam, and it should usually take half an hour to go to Leiden, but they decided to make it a local train, so I was at Leiden at about... 1.15 am or so? xD

And another day to work at my thesis again, hurray :whistling:

tomorrow it's Hoorn --> Amersfoort --> Bilthoven... and back from Bilthoven to Hoorn on Friday (since I need to get back at 14:00 pm for my driving lessons). I wonder how the NS will be. They usually ruin my day... how I love trains ;)

They did for me last friday ^^. There was a jam beyond the station where I had to be, but still they decided that the train couldn't go further, so I had to wait at Rotterdam for half an hour in the scorchering sun (nah, but it was 30+ degrees :P) to wait for some other trains to pass by that could go to the next station xD

So good luck on your trains :P

Keep us updated! :P

I started reading in Limit, by Frank Schätzing, a monsterous book of about 1100 pages. It started off not that interesting yet, so I hope it get's better, otherwise I waste quite some of my time on the book, haha :P
