Hey everybody! I was just thinking about tattoos and piercings, and I thought it would be interesting to see, if you guys like tattoos and piercings, and if so, do you have any by yourselfs? I made a little poll about this, and I think it would be intersting to see if there is someone out here who perhaps really loves it, or someone who probably really really hates those kind of things.

I'm someone who really likes and loves piercings and tattoos. I have about eight piercings (seven on my ears, and since few days one at my lower lip) and one tattoo (more to be coming soon, when I have enough money again!^^). I really love tattoos also as a piece of art. Well, ok, there are tattoos which are really bad and gross, but the most I know are really beautiful and full of passion. And piercings... well it's like an addiction sometimes (well this goes for the tattoos too). First I got just second lobes, but then I wanted more and more... I wanted my lip pierced since I'm seventeen I think... and I wanted a tattoo since I was about 14. Now I have one, and I'm planning to do a bigger one in the next one or two years. The problem with piercings and tattoos is, that if you want to work at a bank, restaurants or sometimes also department stores, you're not allowed to have visible tattoos or piercings. Not even at the ears (well you're allowed to wear two earrings, but not more). I think that's is little bit harsh and unnessesary. Because all those things doesn't change the person or how they work, right? Or do you think different about it?

Oh pretty interesting topic. Well first of all, I have neither piercings or tattoos. I don't really like the idea of piercings - even though I have to admit that sometimes it suits a person (always talking about my opinion). A tattoo is different for me because of its meaning. Tattoos of Maoris for example show to which tribe they belong and have a story or deeper meaning which is kinda cool, isn't it? This kind of tattoo also really looks artistic and are beautiful in my eyes. I must say that I would never have a tattoo - it's just the though that you'll have it also in a few decades. Will you still like it? Did you move on?

The problems in our society as a tattoo-wearer are quite strange - a tattoo just adds something to your individuality, I think. It definitely hasn't to be negative (okay, if you have one to show that you are in a gang it's different, isn't it?). Earlier you connected a tattoo with negative feelings but these days a lot people do accept it, don't they? I have no idea - at least I would. :) Here might be a response of someone with a visible tattoo interesting.

Just to justify my dislike about piercings just means that I wouldn't have one by myself - tattoos are different for me because they have usually a deeper meaning.

@arianne

Yes, earrings are counting too of coures!:P

@Silvio

Hehe I know what you mean. First I thought like you about piercings, but the more you get in to it, the more you like it!^^ But I understand poeple who don't like it.
And yes, it still is a big problem in our society which don't accept piercings or tattoos... even if many people have one. I know about many stores where your not allowed to have piercings or tattoos (even dyed hair is forbidden, if it is an unnatural colour). If you have a visible tattoo, you have to cover it. In Japan for example you're sometimes not even allowed to go into a public bath if you have a tattoo (that's because of the japanese mafia).
I was thinkig for a long time about getting a tattoo, and I chose a place which is not always visible. It's at my right upper arm. I think it will not drastically deform at that place when I grow older or when I would loose or gain weight (I would never get a tattoo on my stomach for example... it would look ugly if I'd get pregnant!:P).

No piercings or tattoos here. A tattoo is just too permanent for me, and I wouldn't even know what kind of tattoo I should be having. A tattoo definitely should not be created as a fashion item but should be meaningful to someone and have a deeper story. When I see people with a run-of-the-mill tribal tattoo it almost saddens me. Why should you mark yourself with such a meaningless tattoo?

As for piercings, I find the ones set in a nose really terrible. Can't really explain why. I don't have any piercings and don't plan on having any. Not my thing I guess. I like the ones in ears but it shouldn't be too excessive for me.

Wow. I thought Western communities are so generous to tatoos or piercings, but it looks same with here.
I like both of them, I want to try.
