I can agree with Arianne for the most criticisms. It's always a shame when a trailer gives too much away from the movie, until about 70% in I knew what would happen which made the movie a bit too predictable. Fortunately the overall movie was quite amusing.

Tomorrow I'll be going to see Bridesmaids and Cowboys & Aliens so hopefully more reviews will be added soon. ;)

Cowboy & Aliens looks like a pretty solid action film - so I'm looking forward to your review as well.

We haven't mentioned Harry Potter here, have we? Has anyone else seen it too? It was quite good actually, but way darker than the previous ones. Hardly a children's film anymore. :)

Lately I've started watching film trailers to find some new good film material and I totally agree with you. Trailers that give away too much of the story are just annoying and should not even be watched... well, that was easy to say. ;)

However, some funny parts solved that soon enough. As is the case with many SF-films the special effects were more important than the plot. Which is just a case of genre I guess. Although 'The Rise of the Planet of the Apes' postponed the clue of the film to the credits, which I'd never seen before! It keeps you wondering until the end of the film what really happened.

You couldn't quite miss the funny parts, listening to the guy next to me in the cinema :P
Special effects seem to get more important nowadays, but sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. This time, they did a great job with the apes. But... did anyone else notice in some of Ceasar's facial expressions similarities with the expressions Gollum sometimes shows? It's just that typical 'evil, sneaky' Gollum look, that you sometimes could see in Ceasar.
I liked it that they put the final conclusion just after a few seconds of endcredits. That rose the film a bit to a higher level for me ;)

I've seen Harry Potter, and the movie was indeed quite good. In my opinion the 3D didn't add too much to the film. I just had to see it because it's, after 10(?) years of films, you finally can see the conclusion ;). But I found the ending a bit of an anti-climax (not the xx-years later part, but just before that), so that was a bit of a pity. For the rest, enough action, a bit too rushed and chaotic at times, and a decent movie.

Cowboys and Aliens was great! Well, of course it had its predictable moments and clichés, but not in a bad way. I liked it how it felt like watching a regular Western (until the Aliens incorporate of course ;) ), in terms of character types and music. Glad it wasn't 3D though :). What was really good about the movie was the music! Definitely helped to get that Western feeling.

First of all Bridesmaids, as expected me and a friend were the only men watching that movie. The movie itself is about the maid of honor in particular who is hitting a downward spiral regarding her own love life, work, etcetera.

Before watching it I was told the movie is like the hangover. I can't say I agree on that but it was a fun movie in my opinion.

Second the movie Cowboys & Aliens.. first things first.. what a kick-ass combination! After the start of the movie I instantly got the 'feeling' of watching a western movie. And although I knew aliens would appear, I was still a bit like 'what the..' when they did. Some friends of mine said the movie was a bit too lengthy but that's not my experience at all.
Finally some creativity on the white screen by combining genre's that are normally not even close to each other.

If you like sci-fy or action movies in general this movie is totally recommended.

Favorite Comedies

My favorite comedies are : Ferris Buller's Day Off; Young Frankenstein; Monty Python and the Holy Grail; and Life of Brian. Ferris Buller's Day Off is my most favorite, though. No matter what kind of mood I'm in, that movie makes me laugh out loud.
