I think which movies one sees should always be a personal choice, but I will not refuse to watch a movie just because it is a "must see." I base my decisions on the theme of the movie and who the actors are. I've had friends talk me into seeing things which I didn't think I would like, but ended up loving. That was the way it was with the first Harry Potter movie. At the time, I had not read the books, and I didn't want to see it. Finally, a friend said, "Let's do it," so I went. I loved that movie, I loved the story, I even cried at the end. I started reading the books that day, and found that I loved them. The rest of the movies have been okay, but after reading the books, I find them a bit disappointing.
I was not going to see "Avatar" because I didn't think I would enjoy it, but several people I knew kept saying, "You really should see this movie. You will love it." Because these people knew me very well, I trusted them and saw the movie. I did enjoy it. The story was simple and sweet, and the movie was a visual work of art. It was stunning. I'm glad I saw it, but it is not something I would watch again because it would not hold my interest a second time.
